President's Message

Dear Family, Friends, and Supporters of Women for Morris Brown College, 

​

   Welcome to our website, we are so glad and honored that you decided to look us up to learn more about who we are, what we do, and what drives us to continue to support Morris Brown College, located in Atlanta, Georgia. We are pleased to provide more information about our beloved organization, how you can become a member and invest in the future of our students at Morris Brown College. Without you and your support, we would not be able to do what we do in supporting our students to achieve academically and grow into a productive citizen. Thank you so much for all you have done and will continue to do.

Women for Morris Brown College, Incorporated was founded by Helen Kilpatrick Threatt, then First Lady during the college’s Centennial Celebration in 1981. More than one hundred women representing Morris Brown College and other Historically Black Colleges and Universities and became charter members.

 

The founding members were Helen Threatt, Evelyn Brown, Marie E. Brown, Thelma Duncan, Evelyn Fraizer, Marilyn Jackson, Magnolia Smothers, Joyce Wyatt, and Racyne Wyatt.

 

The organization was charted by the States of Georgia in 1982.The installation of members was presided over by Dr. Robert Threatt, the 12th President of Morris Brown College. The ceremony was held on campus in the Viola Hill Auditorium on Saturday May 22, 1982. Louise Thornton Hollowell was the founding President.
